One SUV to rule them all
The new Mitsubishi Outlander launches this month – fully equipped to reclaim its throne as New Zealand’s favourite SUV, and make drivers feel like kings and queens of the road.
Daniel Cook, Mitsubishi Motors NZ head of sales and marketing strategy, says that with seven seats as standard across the range, the new Outlander is already a step ahead of other pretenders to the crown.
“Outlander spent several years as the best-selling SUV in New Zealand; it set a standard at an exceptional level of value that led to other brands raising their game,” said Mr Cook. “We have embraced the challenge from our competitors and are confident that our new model Outlander has what it takes to be Kiwis’ No.1 once again.”
Seven models strong, the spec starts high and gets better from there. Seven seats, 18-inch alloys and smartphone display audio (SDA) are standard from the 2WD LS through to the 4WD VRX. Even the spare wheel is a full-sized alloy – fitted under the rear of the vehicle to maximise passenger space, or storage for all the gear you need on the go.
SDA integrates up-to-the-minute, on-the-go communication with the freedom of the open road, allowing drivers to remain in full control of the wheel and their smartphones on a clear, 7-inch, dash-mounted touch screen via Apple CarPlay or Android AutoTM. When the time comes to get in or out of a tight park, the rear view camera comes online to help the driver reverse with confidence.
Improvements at the business end include a remapped six-speed CVT in all petrol models, for smoother acceleration and reduced engine noise, plus a new-generation starter motor. And that’s just the beginning.
